Study on Properties of Blue-Brick Masonry Materials for Historical Buildings

There are a large number of historic buildings which were mainly made blue-brick masonry in today’s world. However, for the natural and man-made reasons, these have been damaged different degrees. In order to protect more scientifically learn about preservation state existing buildings, it is necessary ascertain material properties blue brick buildings. The article takes bricks historical Kaifeng area Central Plains as an example study. Through analysis physical properties, X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, diffraction scanning electron microscopy specimens, such apparent density, moisture content, porosity, structure composition understood. results show that density 1.64 g/cm3 , content 10.23%, 24 h atmospheric water absorption 17.86%, porosity 20.99%. smaller is, larger performance better. From microscopic point view, bonding ability between mineral particles relatively weak. pores skeletons pore obvious. perspective phase, elements O, Si, Al, Fe, composed quartz feldspar. softening coefficient 0.80, deformation stability should be paid special attention rainy season or wet environment. frost test, there salt substances internal brick, surface eroded pulverized. this paper, experimental process methods testing can provide reference research on same kind relics. relevant property parameters obtained paper guidance making protection schemes scientific repairs China, enrich evaluation criteria maintaining reinforcing theoretical support studying damage health detection technology related
